Cape Town Part 2
Second (of three) set of pictures from my visit to Cape Town in January, 2012. This covers District 6 museum, Simons Town, Cape Point and Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden.
Read MoreAt the District 6 museum. District 6 was a neighborhood in Cape Town which was defined a Whites Only area during the 1970's. Over 60,000 residents (who were poor, black and colored) were forcibly removed from their homes and moved outside of Cape Town. The entire neighborhood was then razed, but nothing was ever built there.
Dassy staring me down. The most interesting thing about these guys is that DNA shows that their closest relative is....the elephant! Really: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dassy
